Dyrhólaey Puffins

For more than a decade, photographing Iceland’s puffins lived quietly on a bucket list. At Dyrhólaey, that dream finally became a reality.

Perched along the cliffs nearly 400 feet above the ocean, we spent a freezing Icelandic evening waiting for the puffins to return to their burrows. Between the wind, the cold, and a few precarious moments near the cliff’s edge, patience eventually gave way to the photographs I had imagined capturing for years.

Dyrhólaey Puffins is a collection from that evening—a long-awaited encounter with one of Iceland’s most remarkable little residents, and a reminder that some photographs are worth the wait.
